With a distinctly Scottish vibe, Lost Shore Surf Resort inspires people to get lost in their dreams and escape from it all. Based in Ratho, near Edinburgh airport in Scotland, Lost Shore aims to create a paradise for surfers of all abilities and a resort that families and friends can enjoy.

Over the last ten years, Andy has worked to overcome challenges and bring Lost Shore to life. “I first envisioned this project when I saw how surf technology could revolutionize surfing the way chairlifts transformed skiing a century ago. Both opened up access for the masses”, Andy said.

“I wanted to bring an epic idea like this to Scotland, in a way that kept people warm and comfortable...it felt like a challenge worth rising to. If we could build it using predominantly Scottish businesses, it would put us on the map and create a uniquely Scottish blueprint”, Andy added.

Andy shared with us why he chose to set up his business in Scotland. “Scotland has always been home. I wanted the positive ripple effects, from economic impact to community well-being to be felt here first”.

“Locating this facility in Scotland meant those benefits would feed directly back into the place and people that shaped me. And the local networks I’ve built over the years played a big part in making this dream a reality”, Andy explained.

Although the journey hasn’t always been easy. “At the outset, I had no capital, no land, and if I’m honest no idea what I was really getting into! But each step along the way was a lesson and I found momentum in learning. I soon realised that with the right plan, this vision wasn’t out of reach. That curiosity and drive kept me going”, Andy said.

The power of Andy’s community has been vital to overcome some of the challenges faced. “This journey wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support around me. My uncle and father stood by me through every twist and turn. And while there are too many to thank individually, I’m especially grateful to our incredible team”.

“Special mentions must go to Chris Bain, Fernando Odriozola, Nicola Kaye, Alejandro Padro Marsal, Jamie Marshall, Laura Tainsh, and Iain Good for believing in this from the start”, Andy added.

And what makes it all worth it? Andy said “As Wavegarden once told me, ‘This isn’t a machine that makes waves, it makes smiles.’ And they were right. Seeing the joy on people’s faces as they step out of the lagoon - it’s a feeling that makes every ounce of effort worthwhile."
