One of the things that I love the most about Scotland is how welcoming and inclusive everybody has been. I came here just for a few months as part of an exchange but I fell in love with the city.
I found out about an initiative that Scottish Enterprise were running to get more people into I.T. and I applied for one of those. My job at FreeAgent is V.P. of Engineering – we build accountancy software for freelancers and small businesses.
What I love the most about Scotland is the quality of life - I've been able to really balance my personal life with my work. I had the opportunity to work from home when I had my little boy, so I was able to continue developing my career and progressing in my role.
'Women Who Code' has been helping women all over the world, so I was very keen to start a network here in Edinburgh. We want to provide women with an avenue into tech, or for those women that are already working – to empower them.
I think there is a very strong culture of learning, there's a wealth of career and academic choices for students. Scotland is a stunning country, but it's also incredibly progressive and inclusive and welcoming for people of all backgrounds.
