“We are having a Scottish Day with a special Scottish Themed school dinner. We are all wearing tartan and have been taking part in Scottish themed lessons all week. We have looked at Scots language, highland dancing, poetry and writing. We have made Scottish art work and have decorated the hall with The St. Andrew's Cross flags. We are then having a Scottish afternoon with each class showing us what they have learned. We are really looking forward to it. By primary 7.”

“We have designed our own tartan using different colours of paint, made pictures of bagpipes, kilts, flags and thistles. We have made shortbread and we are having a Scottish snack (haggis neaps and tatties) and we are having a visit from a lady who plays the bagpipes she is coming in full Scottish dress and is also bringing chanters for the children to play. The children have also been asked to wear something tartan if they have it.”

“The Geelong Club will open its historic doors and offer Scottish fare and entertainment when it hosts its second St Andrew’s Day luncheon on Friday, November 27.
With 2009 being the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns, the entertainment will have a Burns theme.
Many of the guests will wear traditional Highland dress and a number will be exploring the interior of Geelong’s most exclusive club for the first time.
The Geelong Club was founded in 1881, and its Queen Anne-style building is a Geelong landmark.
Many of the early settlers of the Geelong area who founded the club were Scots.
In the 1800s Geelong was a disembarkation point for tens of thousand of Scottish immigrants, many of whom stayed, while later inflows joined the gold rush to Ballarat and others settled the Western District.”
