Visitors vote Skara Brae must see site
Historic Scotland
Visitors to Skara Brae have voted it one of the ‘must see’ attractions in the British Isles.
The Neolithic site, which is run by Historic Scotland is the best preserved group of pre-historic houses in Western Europe. Skara Brae was one of only eight visitor attractions in the UK to receive a merit award as voted by customers of international tour operator, CIE Tours.
Held annually by CIE Tours International, the Awards of Excellence are now in their 22nd year of recognising achievement in all areas of tourism.
Skara Brae’s manager, Mary Dunnett travelled to Dublin for the awards, where she was presented with her certificate by the Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Leo Varadkar.
The winners of the CIE Awards of Excellence 2011 are chosen from an independent evaluation of questionnaires completed by CIE Tours International customers.
