Turner prize winner's marble makeover in Edinburgh
Herald Scotland
It has long been called the Athens of the North and now Edinburgh is to get a new dose of marble to add to its architectural allure.
Martin Creed, the Turner Prize-winning contemporary artist based in Glasgow, is to 'beautify' one of the capital's least prepossessing stairwells, connecting Waverley Station with the Old Town, in a project costing more than £100,000.
The work will see one of Scotland's most avant-garde modern artists working in the classical medium of marble for the first time.
