Scottish writing showcased in India

Several Scottish writers are to take part in Asia's leading community-based arts festival which gets underway this week.

The Jaipur Literary Festival, which runs from January 21 to 25, attracts thousands of book lovers from all over the world every year.

Several of Scotland's acclaimed writers are appearing at this year's festival, including James Kelman, Irvine Welsh and William Dalrymple who is also one of the festival's directors.

The Jaipur Literature Festival promotes cross-cultural appreciation by bringing together the best of Indian and international writers.
