Scots firm looks stateside for expansion

Food and Drink entrepreneur wins development support from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
A fast-growing firm in the Scottish food and drink industry, Blueshell Mussels, is set for greater advancement after benefiting from the expertise of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The company won a Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) sponsored place for an intensive week of entrepreneurial development at the world renowned MIT in January 2010.
In a move that will help develop food production in Scotland, Blueshell managing director Michael Laurenson visited the Boston based Sloan School of Management to take part in the prestigious Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP).
The programme is part of HIE's strategic partnership with MIT that’s been going for over five years.
