New Scottish Fashion Success
Creative Boom
Jaggy Nettle, a new Scottish based fashion and lifestyle label is set to take 2011 by storm following the sell-out success of their recent collection.
The borders-based designer duo were due to sell a special collection of products online for the first time at the end of 2010 but stock flew off the shelves with orders from overseas buyers before the online store had even opened. “It was a good problem to have” said label co-director Jason Lee, “but we had no idea there would be such a high demand for our products.”
Jaggy Nettle had initially planned to sell a small 50-piece collection of four menswear products online from September 2010. However after sales reps from their local cashmere manufacturers visited buyers in Paris and New York wearing Jaggy Nettle’s Harris Tweed shoes, Japanese selvedge denim jeans and cashmere jumpers, a craze was born.
“The original idea was to kick off with an online shop stocking a small capsule collection we had created”, said Lee originally from Lochgelly, “but after the overseas buyers saw our collections we were inundated with orders which cleaned us out in five days. The products literally sold themselves.”
