Glasgow’s exhibition of some of its finest ever painters has proven to be the most successful art show of its kind ever staged.

More than 231,000 people visited Glasgow and London to see Pioneering Painters: The Glasgow Boys 1880-1900.

The show, the first major exhibition of the work of the Glasgow Boys painters in 40 years, was a comprehensive collection of works by painters such as Sir James Guthrie, Sir John Lavery, Arthur Melville, Edward Arthur Walton, George Henry and Edward Atkinson Hornel.

After its successful staging at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the show moved to the Sackler Wing of the Royal Academy in London, and ran there from October until last weekend.
