In the summer months the Scots really enjoy themselves. From huge music festivals, with some of the world’s biggest bands, to comedy, arts and book festivals there’s always something going on somewhere in Scotland during the hottest months of the year.

Here are a selection of Scotland’s music festivals, from traditional folk festivals, to jazz festivals filled with home grown talent and international super stars alike, Scotland’s music festival scene is buzzing.

West End festival: Glasgow

3 – 26 June

Glasgow’s biggest festival returns this year with over 600 events ranging from classical and choral music, folk, rock, jazz, theatre, and dance, with the famous Festival Sunday (the Opening Parade) kicking off the event.

RockNess festival: Loch Ness

10 – 12 June

Renowned as being one of the most beautiful festival sites in the world, situated on an incredible backdrop of the loch, RockNess is the hidden gem in the festival calendar that is not to be missed!

Glasgow International Jazz festival: Glasgow

Glasgow International Jazz festival features a mix of international stars and ambitious home grown projects from the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and the Ryan Quigley Band.

Dundee Blues Bonanza: Dundee

1 – 3 July

Dundee once again is host to one of Europe's largest street Blues Festivals. The Bonanza, now in its 17th year, is a truly international celebration with over 120 acts covering all the blues bases . 'All day, all free, all blues'.

Kelburn Garden Party: Largs

1 – 3 July

The Garden Party is an utterly unique event in a spectacular setting in the stunningly lush grounds surrounding Kelburn Castle, known around the world as the site of the Graffiti Project. 8 – 10 July

13 -16 July

22 – 23 July

The Wickerman Festival is Scotland's hottest independent music and arts festival, and returns this year to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival: Edinburgh

22 – 31 July

The Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival is Britain's biggest jazz festival boasting over 120 concerts in 10 days. Founded in 1978, the festival has grown to become the longest –running jazz festival in the country.

Belladrum Tartan Heart festival: Beauly

5 - 6 August
