Scotland Run

Scotland run 10k starting line

More than 9,000 runners took part in the 10K event with thousands cheering them on from the sidelines. There was great weather and a spirit to match. The atmosphere was buzzing, with the sound of bagpipes and drums providing the perfect soundtrack.

Central Park and the surrounding streets of New York became a sea of Scottish-ness with many of the runners donning kilts and tartan for the event.

The winner of the 2011 Run was Kumsa Adugna Megersa of West Side Runners (WSX) who completed the race in 29 minutes and 33 seconds

New York Athletic Club's Reilly Kiernan led the way for the women, completing the race in 35 minutes and 09 seconds.

The post-race entertainment was fantastic, with runners and spectators alike treated to a festival of Scottish culture including live Scottish music.

The 8th annual Scotland Run which took place in New York on April 10 was the finale to Scotland Week 2011.
