About the Year of Natural Scotland

Scotland is renowned throughout the world for its breath-taking scenery, biodiversity and unique natural heritage.

With its stunning rugged landscapes which also act as an invigorating natural playground, a unique and unforgettable on-your-doorstep larder, historic monuments and castles which map out the country’s history, and spectacular flora and fauna, it’s little wonder that Scotland has inspired many art forms and innovations over the generations.

Scotland’s natural environment influences our culture, education, manufacturing, fashion and textiles industry, food and drink.

From Chanel drawing inspiration from Scotland’s history as well as its fabrics, to the world’s largest tidal energy turbine harnessing the power of the country’s wind and seas, not to mention rugged hills, mountains, lochs and lands that are just as good to play on as they are to look at;  Scotland  has much to celebrate in 2013, the Year of Natural Scotland.
