"It's fun to have a Scottish event for New Yorkers where we can fly the Saltire or Lion Rampant. It reinvigorates national pride and reminds us of our roots. I was born and brought up in rural Scotland but have lived in Manhattan for 22 years. The two are poles apart but I feel lucky to have experienced both environments because each highlights things to appreciate about the other. My favourite event is in Central Park – it's good to see the Scotland Run there and cheer on the participants and mingle in the crowd."
