Nell - I found out about a Burns Night in Dunedin this Saturday: Dunedin's Burns Club started in 1861 and still going strong! Tickets can be bought from the Scottish shop www.scottishshop.co.nz. It costs $35 includes meal (haggis!) and entertainment.

“We're bringing Burns Night to Yorkshire and are following the tradition right down the line - from the piper and MCs to the haggis ceremony and 'toast to the lassies'. We're hoping to make it as interactive as possible, in very much the same way it is done in a familial setting, and so are opening up the evening to any guests who want to share their favourite poem, song or tall tale. Guests will also tuck into a delicious five-course meal, including Scottish classics smoked haddock broth, surf and turf, cranachan and of course, haggis.

If you're interested in attending, call 01422 845272 or visit www.moyles.com.”
