Central Scotland East
PERTHSHIRE'S spectacular, diverse countryside is steeped in history: the stories of Mary Queen of Scots, Rob Roy and William Wallace all have their chapters here. In FIFE you will find some of the UK's best kept beaches, delightful fishing villages, and – of course – golf: ST. ANDREWS, the home of the game is at the heart of the county.
Up into ANGUS & DUNDEE and the golf continues at CARNOUSTIE – home to the 2007 OPEN – as Fife's rugged coastline hugs the North Sea to the east while, to the west, is the CAIRNGORMS NATIONAL PARK.
The region is also at the epicentre of Scotland's burgeoning role in the new technology, engineering and biotechnology fields. It is especially prominent in the area of digital media and is home to some of the world's most highly-rated computer games firms. Major local employers include NCR and DC Thompson, as well as Norwich Union, Tesco and BT, all of whom have call centres in the area.
